Sometimes people mistake natural parenting to be a branch of attachment parenting. This isn’t really the case, especially when talking about one’s philosophy regarding parenting. Unlike attachment parents who following a specific philosophy regarding child-rearing, natural parenting parents do not define themselves by the way they choose to bring up their child, but by the choices they make regarding certain aspects of their family life.
A natural parent may simply be defined as one who makes responsive and intentional choices in terms of their parenting and family life. They may be interested in cloth diapering, eating organically, breastfeeding, using nurturing practices such as touch therapy and babywearing, being flexible regarding sleeping and eating schedules of their child, etc. Most of all, natural parents are concerned with achieving a healthy balance of family and personal life.
